Vaasthu
For the sthapati(Architect), building is an act of bringing disordered existence into conformity with the basic laws that govern it. This can only be achieved by making each monument, from the hermit’s retreat to the layout of a city, follow exactly the magic diagram of the vastu-purusha mandala.According to the ‘vastu-shastras’(general manuals on architecture) the vastu-purusha mandala can be drawn in 32 ways. The simplest one consists of a square; all the others result from the division of this square; all the other result from the division of this square into 4,9,16,25,36,49,64,81 and so on up to 1024 small squares, i.e., Padas. The size in which it is drawn is immaterial so far as its magic efficacy is concerned. In a plan for a large area it can regulate the disposition of the various buildings, and in the plan of a temple it can define the rhythm of the architectural members or the proportion between the thickness of the wall and size of the interior.”

The HOUSE is founded on worship: “Brahmana salam nimitam”
The building of a house is not just masonry or business. It is in both instances a liturgical act, in which humans lives as well as the powers above and below are involved. The human dwelling places are the extension of man's real world. To take leave of the house is to take leave of the world. A house is not a shelter for the body; it is shelter for the whole world. The Atharva veda is full of blessings and magic practices concerned with houses. A social attention is paid to the purification of the house from all evil forces.
The god of structures, Vastu purusha, provides protection, happiness and prosperity. In principle, a naturally generated space which within a boundary encompasses the elements of boundless earth, fire, air and ethereal space that also houses a grid of gods for foolproof protection: Aditya (sun), Brahma (life's breath), Shiva (flow of life's energy), Roga (protector from disease), Soma (elixir of life), Kuber(wealth), and Yama(justice and death) to finally achieve the ulterior motive of every human life happiness and harmony always (sat, chit, ananda.)

With wisdom comes adaptation and protection of humans from nature. It is my job as a designer to relate and to make you realize how all things are connected and how the Indian seers practiced the Vastu Shastra and why their dwelling environment or habitat on earth represented a miniature throbbing cosmos.
